We want to take the occasion of YWPs meeting for the First European Conference to explore each other’s work and/or research and learn about the latest news and innovations in water! Are you working with/ studying/ researching wastewater, water supply, groundwater, urban water, climate adaptation, hydraulics or any other water related subject? Would you like to share with YWPs from all over Europe?

Here is your chance! 

Topics 

We are young and curious; therefore, we are designing the conference to include a wide range of topics. Need inspiration?  Any topic related to the work of one of the 50 IWA Specialist Groups is relevant.

Examples of types of content that can be submitted include (but it is not limited to): 

  • Digitalization 
  • Climate change mitigation & adaptation 
  • Water pollution
  • Innovation/Entrepreneurship 
  • Sanitation and sewage collection system 
  • Wastewater Treatment & Resource Recovery 
  • Drinking water production and distribution 
  • Management, policy and social aspects 
  • Water resources and environment 

Types of submission 

Scientific abstract

Authors willing to have their abstracts considered for a platform presentation will be required to submit a maximum of two A4 pages of text including the title, abstract, keywords, main text and references and two A4 pages for illustrations (i.e. tables, diagrams, graphs, etc), always respecting a limit of 1000 words. Both academic work and industry case studies are encouraged. Authors must submit their abstracts as a .doc document using the templates available in the call for content.

Accepted abstracts submitted via the IWA online submission system will be included in the conference proceedings and will be distributed to all registered conference participants (subject to the registration of at least one of the authors for the paper).

After the peer-review process, the highest quality papers will be selected and authors will receive an invitation to develop full manuscripts to be submitted for publication in one of the IWA journals (namely: Water Science and Technology; Water Practice and Technology: Water Supply; Journal of Water Reuse and Desalination; or Journal of Hydroinformatics). Please note that acceptance of a paper for conference presentation does not guarantee subsequent acceptance for journal publication, the final decision on journal publication lies with the journals’ Editor-in-Chief.

Discussion or opinion piece

Authors are welcome to submit a discussion point or opinion piece that can be used for debate and discussion during the conference. The authors will be required to submit a maximum of one A4 page of text including the title and main text (no graphics or references required).

Creative presentation

Authors willing to present their work (scientific or case study) in a creative way can submit for a creative content presentation. The type of presentation can be for example: vision talk; flash talk; TED style talk, etc… The authors are welcome to contact the program committee to discuss a potential creative presentation. The authors will be required to submit a maximum of one A4 page of text including the title and main text (no graphics or references required).

Dates and details 

Once the abstract is selected for presentation (regardless of type of submission), at least one of the authors must register for the conference (before Early Bird Registration deadline in order to be included in the conference program) and present the abstract at the conference.
